QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will possess a high school diploma, with a bachelor’s degree preferred, and prior golf coaching and/or competitive playing experience. The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of Virginia High School League (VHSL) golf rules and regulations and the ability to effectively instruct, motivate, and supervise high school student-athletes. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are required, along with the ability to work collaboratively with school administrators, athletic department staff, VHSL officials, and parents. The position requires completion of all VHSL coaching education requirements, current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, and successful completion of all school division and state-mandated background checks and coaching certifications.

 

DESCRIPTION

The High School Golf Coach is responsible for leading and administering the school’s interscholastic golf program in accordance with VHSL rules and regulations, school board policies, and school division procedures. This seasonal, stipend position provides leadership focused on the development of golf skills, sportsmanship, academic responsibility, and personal growth of student-athletes. The coach is expected to foster a positive team culture that supports the overall mission and goals of the school’s athletic program.

SUPERVISION

The High School Golf Coach works under the supervision of the Athletic Director.

 

WORK CONDITIONS

Duties are performed primarily outdoors and require working in varying weather conditions. The position involves evening, weekend, and occasional holiday hours consistent with the VHSL golf season, as well as travel to away matches and tournaments. Compensation is provided as a stipend in accordance with the school division’s approved athletic coaching salary schedule.
