QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate must hold a Master's degree in Education, Literacy, or related field. Licensed as a Reading Specialist, and worked in a similar role (i.e. Reading Specialist or Coach) for a minimum of 5 years. Valid teaching certification and significant experience in literacy instruction. Demonstrated coaching experience in educational settings. In-depth knowledge of literacy research, best practices, and instructional strategies. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis to inform instructional decision-making. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders. Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in literacy education. Ability to provide effective professional development and coaching to educators. Familiarity with educational technology tools and digital resources for literacy instruction.

 

DESCRIPTION

The Division Literacy Supervisor is responsible for advancing literacy instruction and fostering a culture of literacy excellence within the school division. This position involves providing leadership, guidance, and support to educators in implementing effective literacy strategies that enhance student achievement across grade levels.

 

GENERAL DUTIES (May not include all duties performed)

 

SUPERVISION

Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Director of Elementary Education and the Director of Secondary Education.

 

WORK CONDITIONS

Duties are performed in a variety of settings, including the School Board Office and the schools.  Work is performed regularly in professional settings and in the field.  Work requires frequent standing, sitting, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds.  Work requires assignments involving a great deal of interactions with people as well as meeting frequent deadlines.
