QUALIFICATIONS

Must hold at least a high school diploma or GED; Must have some knowledge of the cleaning methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work, and the ability to use them safely, economically and efficiently. Ability to observe and report needs for maintenance and supplies. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to get along well with students, officials, and the general public. Ability to work well with others.

 

DESCRIPTION

A custodian is responsible for the proper performance of light, medium, and heavy cleaning and custodial work during an assigned shift.  The employee performs janitorial and minor maintenance duties requiring some skill in the use of cleaning materials and equipment performing preventative maintenance on HVAC units, and in making minor repairs.  The work also involves moving furniture and loading/unloading trucks as needed.  The hours for this position are M-F, 4:00 PM-8:00 PM.

WORK CONDITIONS

Work requires regular lifting, stooping, bending, and sufficient strength, agility, and dexterity to perform all required tasks.  Ability to work outdoors in a variety of temperatures and climate conditions. Ability to lift, move, transport supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with manual or mechanical assistance and utilizing appropriate safety gear as per OSHA guidelines.
