A successful candidate will be endorsed by the VDOE or eligible for an endorsement in Speech Pathology.  For candidates who are hired and fully licensed there is a $5000 sign on bonus.

 

The speech pathologist provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to students with speech and language disorders in a public school setting; and provides related educational sercices to school age students.  The pathologist manages student behavior, assess and evaluates student progress, and provides a variety of student monitoring and assessment activities.  

 

The speech pathologist identifies and assesses students with speech and/or language impairments, as well as, develops and implements intervention programs for these students.

 

Essential Functions:

Completes diagnostic batteries to determine articulation, voice fluency, language and pragmatic disorders.

 

Prepares reports weith testing results, makes recommendations for remediation, and develops therapy plans appropriate to individual needs.

 

Develops learning goals and objectives and guides the instrucitonal process toward achievement of these goals.

 

Assesses the accomplishments of the students and provides progress reports.

 

Counsels colleagues, students and/or parents on a regular basis concerning student needs and progress.

 

Assumes school level responsibilities as assigned by the principal.

 

May assume responsibility for extracurricular activites and may sponsor outside activitires approved by the school administration.

 

Communicates with district staff, school staff, students and parents.

 

Utilizes equipment and materials appropriate to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and reporting.

 

Performs related duties as requred or assigned.
