QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Education or a related field is preferred.  Must hold, or is eligible to hold, a Virginia Teaching License with specific endorsement(s) in the area to which assigned.  Prior experience teaching music to elementary students is preferred. Proficiency in playing and teaching a variety of musical instruments preferred.  Strong classroom management and communication skills.  Passion for fostering a love of music and creativity in young learners.  Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.  Familiarity with educational technology tools for music instruction.

 

DESCRIPTION

The Elementary Music Teacher is a creative and passionate educator responsible for cultivating an appreciation for music among elementary school students. This role involves designing engaging lessons, introducing fundamental musical concepts, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment that encourages students to explore and express themselves through music.

Employee reports directly to the School Principal

 

WORK CONDITIONS

Duties performed are typically in the school setting.  Performs professional work providing support and consultative services for assigned department/program. Work requires frequent standing, sitting, walking, and light lifting.  Some assignments are subject to deadlines inherent in tailoring and delivering programs to meet the needs of diverse groups. Some assignments may involve exposure to risks associated with interactions with parents and students in heightened emotional states. Employees may be required to perform emergency and non-emergency health-related services for students as needed.
